Up Near The Roof All Our Thoughts Are Clear

Up Near The Roof, All Our Thoughts Are Clear, Solo Exhibition by Tamara Rafkin comes to The Eclectika Gallery this March 30th – April 4th, as one of the three UNT MFA shows the Eclectika is hosting this spring.

Rafkin’s work explores the emotional and physical ways we relate to spaces and our sense of belonging, asking how place, time, and memory shape the structure of the self within the spaces we inhabit.

Using architectural forms as a vehicle for the idea of self and relationship to place, this exhibition reflects on how memory can both anchor and erode a sense of being. While allowing the viewer to occupy a liminal space between the realities of knowing, shifting boundaries of identity, the places we call our own, and a psychological landscape created over time.

This exhibition is Rafkin’s MFA Thesis exhibition as part of her final studies at the University of North Texas. Rafkin invites the public to join her at The Eclectika to experience this sculptural installation of her ceramic, cement, and steel works that culminate her time within the MFA program in Denton.
